About Us
The Supply Chain Management Development Centre was established in 1998 within Swansea Institute Commercial Services Department. Its prime role has always been to serve the needs of national industry and commerce. Its record of achievements over the past decade provides a proud testimonial of the way it has successfully performed this role.
In 2002 the Centre was approached by the Welsh Development Agency to develop a prototype costing model that could be used by companies to measure the actual total costs of acquiring inputs rather than simply accepting the nominal contract cost of purchase as being the actual true costs of purchase for local companies. Over a period of two years, the Centre consulted with over 25 companies - in various industries - discussing and analysing their costing practices.
Resulting from further extensive research, the Centre has now further developed this model.
A Total Acquisition Cost Analysis Model
This dynamic Total Acquisition Costing (TAC) model is both comprehensive in its coverage, and yet flexible to meet the bespoke needs of companies.
The two persons mainly responsible for the development of the TAC model are:
Dr. Richard I Taylor (BA Econ (Hons) Wales ; MBA John Cass Business School , London ; Ph.D Wales )
Cheryl Buckley (Dip Business Administration), Commercial Services Contracts Co-ordinator
Both Richard and Cheryl will provide on-line advice and support to companies wishing to use the TAC model.
